About

Born in Valencia, on the 3rd of April, 2003. KALU became deeply interested in music and performing arts at an early age, starting her artistic education at three years old, with ballet and voice lessons. At the age of five, she started practicing theater and other disciplines of dance. Three years later, she was admitted at Conservatorio de Música José Iturbi (Valencia), but at the beginning of the second year she decided to take a more creative and independent way, and started studying at different non-official music academies.

KALU kept studying and performing music, dance and musical theater during her teenage years. At that time, she was also writing and composing her music, which was never released, except for one song: V. (2020) [still available on YouTube], released under the name Calu.

In 2021, at the age of eighteen, she moved to Madrid to study theater. She first entered Universidad Antonio de Nebrija with full scholarship, and then moved to Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático to specialize in Musical Theater. But soon she would realize that she still wanted to craft her own path, and that her music needed to be the root of it. So, when KALU turned twenty, she started traveling across the country to receive music and voice lessons from masters in Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia. During that time, she made the decision that would change her life forever: creating her first album.

In 2024, after one year of constantly moving from one city to another, and meanwhile making time to keep on elaborating the album, KALU decided that, in order to be able to finish this project, she needed to stop traveling and stay stably based in one place. And that place would be Donostia. KALU learnt how to produce, record, mix and master while making the album, playing every role in this project. She released the first single of this album, Si no, cuando caiga la luna, on the 1st of February, 2024. It achieved more than a thousand streams in one week. Followed by No hay que besarse en un tango, for which she worked on a music video that would never be released. The third single, La Gitana, is her own version of La Casada Infiel, a poem by Federico García Lorca. This inspired her to produce herself a storytelling lyric video for it. The last single before the album release was Aún Vive El Pez.

On the 2nd of January, 2025, the world welcomed De La Boca Al Corazón, KALU’s debut album, which she presented on January 12, at Sala Búho Real (Madrid).
